Everyone can participate in the HOPE Quilt, whether you are an experienced quilter, or just like to draw. No formal art skills required!
GUIDELINES
Create a Panel Block
The HOPE Quilt is a true community-based project: from all over the world, quilters, sewers, artists - even those with little artistic experience - have sent us their individual panel blocks. Join them in expressing your own feelings: create a panel block and send it to us. We will piece yours together with others to make a complete quilt.

Determine Your Theme
Choose whether your panel block is to:

Remember a person or a group significantly affected by or lost to the pandemic.

Honor frontline and essential workers who risked their own lives to care for others.
Create Your Panel Block

Use a high-quality fabric, either 100% Kona cotton or polyester.
Hobbs Bonded Fibers batting is a good choice. -
Panel blocks must measure 11” x 11” total, with a half-inch border to allow for quilting. Design your artwork to fit in the 10’ x 10” center area of your panel block.

Sew, piece, appliqué, embroider, cross-stitch, paint, color, or stamp with fabric markers - unleash your creativity! Be sure to include white in your design.

If you want to add patches, ribbons, buttons, or other personal items from the person being honored, use fabric glue or sew them onto your panel block. Ensure that they are no more than ¼ inch above the surface.

Sign your name and state (or country) on the front of your panel block.

Donate Your Work of Art

Prepare your panel block for mailing: use an envelope that includes support to keep your panel block flat during transport.

Download the submission form to fill out and include in your package. Be sure to include the story behind your panel block: what inspired you to create it?

Take a digital photo of your panel block and upload it to our website (below) for us to include in our online gallery.
