HOPE: Giant letters filled with panels in D.C. dedicated to those affected by COVID-19

WASHINGTON (ABC7) — A three-day event to pay tribute to those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic starts Friday morning at 10:30 a.m., and it features giant letters that spell out "hope."
The 8-foot letters are filled with panels decorated by people of all ages. Each one honors frontline workers and those affected by COVID-19.
Diane Canney, a Loudon County woman started the COVID-19 U.S. Honor Quilt project after her 95-year-old mom asked her for a birthday gift that would help the nation during this tough time. Eventually, these squares will be sewn together into quilts. The goal is to then display them in the Smithsonian.
